Basics
This is a simple room escape game where you must make it to the stairs to complete each stage.
Levels have a variety of power ups and enemies scattered across them.
You must choose your path & fight enemies in the correct order to minimize the damage you take while strengthening your character enough to get past the hardest enemies on each stage.
Some stages allow you to skip enemies, while other stages have numerical gates that are only unlocked by defeating all the enemies.
Features
Enemies – all stages except the first have enemies you encounter.
When there are multiple path options you choose which enemies to fight in what order.
You always initiate battles attack the enemy first.
Each enemy of a particular shape has set health, attack, and defense attributes which are the same amongst all enemies of that shape type.
Arrow Boxes – these allow you to move in one direction, but can not be crossed in the opposite direction.
On some stages there are parallel paths where you can only take one of the two choices.
On some stages you need to defeat all the enemies before crossing certain arrow boxes or else you won’t be able to get back to them.
Number Gates – these gates block you from accessing a portion of the level & disappear after you have defeated a certain number of enemies.
If a level has multiple number gates on it you will count down on all number gates by 1 each time you defeat an enemy.
Some levels require a lot of back and forth between regions in order to defeat enemies in the correct order, particularly when many enemies are initially locked behind number gates.
Power Ups
The game features a variety of power ups which are often hidden behind enemies.
When you equip power ups they help you for the remaining battles in that level.
Whenever you start another level you start from scratch with whatever the starting attributes are on that stage. Attributes do not carry over between levels.
Most power ups last until you complete the level you are on or perish, whichever comes first. The exception is the super attack, which only lasts for one enemy.
Fighting
When you fight enemies you always attack first.
You only fight them by moving toward them while already standing on an adjacent tile.
You can see their attributes by moving directly toward them from a tile two squares away. If you can not move directly toward them from 2 squares away you can use the table below to see their attributes, as each enemy of a particular shape has the same initial attributes.
Turn-based fighting
Each time you hit an enemy they hit you back, with the exception of the final hit on them that defeats them. On the kill shot they do not hit back.
Power ups
The power ups apply to each turn.
If you have an attack strength of 2 and the opponent has a defense of zero you will take 2 of their hit points on each attack.
If your opponent has an attack strength of 1 and you have a defensive strength of 1 they will never hit you.
If your opponent has an attack strength of 2 and you have a defensive strength of 1 you will lose a hit point on each round.
Levels
This game has 20 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
Winning vs losing
You beat a stage if you safely make it to the exit stairs.
You lose a level if you run out of health.
This game offers unlimited continues, starting you at the beginning of any failed level.
Tips
Enemies do not attack you until after you attack them, so plan your attacks and power ups to minimize the damage you take.
You can move to a cell adjacent an enemy without fighting them, provided you do not try to move through the tile they are standing on.
Move around the level to see what your options are, where power ups are located, and what enemies you must fight to progress before attacking.
Levels are not timed & the game does not record your move counts, so it costs nothing to be patient and survey the level before choosing a path.
If you make a mistake press the level restart button and play again.
In general when you go through arrow squares that force you to make one of two path choices it is typically better to level up your attack or defense rather than grab extra heart containers.
Each heart container can absorb at most one hit.
A shield or sword upgrade increases your attack strength on every turn or saves you at least one hit point on each enemy you face.
In most cases you typically want to save the super attack sword for fighting the strongest opponents, though there is at least one level where it can make sense to use it right away to grab a shield so that you can take out many squares without losing any health.
On level 18 take out the square above you, grab the super sword, attack the hexagon to the right to get the shield, then you can take out all the other lower area squares to grab lots of health and the sword without getting hit.
On most stages you typically want to take out the weaker enemies first and power up before taking on the stronger enemies.
There is one exception to the rule. On the final level when you have to choose between fighting the trapezoid or the hexagon-triangle-hexagon at the top of the level you should go through the trapezoid first, power up in the lower left, and then fight the hexagon-triangle-hexagon.
