- Each level has its own quirks. A few level designs are described below
- running levels: Tap repeatedly & furiously to run. Stop short of running into octopus tentacles or falling off platforms. Be sure to keep running if you are standing on a platform which falls apart.
- enemy levels: You run automatically but tap to release your spatula. The spatula throws out directly in front of you. Sometimes you have to wait to walk onto a different plane before you throw it.
- vent levels: click to turn the vent on or off, controlling SpongeBob’s elevation.
- jumping levels: click and hold to fill your shorts with air. Release to jump.
- The bottom of each level contains instructions for how to play that level.
- If you die you get unlimited continues, but your total click count keeps adding up.
- The goal of the game is to beat the game in as few clicks as possible.
