• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen:
    • Select Play to begin.
    • Select Instructions to learn how to play.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your mouse:
      • Left click on a tile with a question mark to open it.
      • Left click on the marking flag to activate marking mode, then left click on a tile to plant a flag on it. When you are done marking bomb locations left click the marking flag to return to normal tile digging mode.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the screen with your fingers and use them as a mouse.
  • Controls and indicators (left to right)
    • Top row:
      • Remaining bombs

      • Flag button: Toggles marking mode

  • Levels
    • Levels are distributed across several zones:
      • You can play any of the zones and their levels.
      • There are 4 themed zones.
      • There are a total of 69 levels in the entire game.
    • Levels in each zone are are unlocked in sequence.
      • You start off with only the first level unlocked.
      • Finish one level to unlock the next.
      • You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You win by clearing all the non-bomb squares from the board.
      • You lose if you dig up a bomb.
      • This game offers unlimited continues.
  • Basic rules
    • Find all the squares with bombs and mark them with a flag.
      • At the start of the game, each square has a question mark on them.
      • To reveal what’s under a square, click or tap on it.
      • The squares can be the following:
        • An empty square
        • A number
        • A bomb
      • When you click on a blank tile, the nearest blank tiles will also be cleared.
    • Use the number squares to try and find out where the bombs will be.
      • The number indicates how many bombs there are in the 8 surrounding squares.
      • Logic will dictate where the bombs will be.
        • If it says 1, there will be one square with a bomb that is right next to the square.
        • Any square that isn’t a bomb can be ruled out.
        • If a single square is surrounded by numbers, it’s fair to assume that’s it’s a bomb.
    • Don’t click on a square with a bomb outside of marking mode.
      • You can sometimes have the rotten luck of clicking on a bomb right away.
    • Find all the bombs in the level to clear it.
      • When you’ve marked all the bombs, the emoji face smiles and wears a pair of shades.
      • If you lose, the emoji does a crying face.
