• Starting the Game

  • Basic rules
    • Link 3 or more identical number tiles to form one tile that has twice the value.
      • You can connect any adjacent tile horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
      • The path you make can only cross a tile once.
      • The merged tiles all move toward the last tile in the chain.
    • Keep linking tiles for as long as you can to create ever larger values.
    • As you play, the value of the tiles you need to connect grows.
      • The game stops generating tiles with a specific small value tiles after that.
      • As you unlock bigger tiles, the value of the smallest tiles still onscreen also grows. This way, you’re not stuck with a stray 2 long after the smallest value becomes 16.
    • Keep playing until you run out of valid moves.
      • See if you can reach the title goal of a tile valued at 8,000.
  • Scoring
    • The value of the tile is determined by the length of your chain. But the actual calculation is a bit more complex.
      • Your score per chain will be the length of the chain multiplied by the number of tiles cleared (minus one).
        • For instance, a chain of 3 will have a value of 6.
        • This is one less the number of tiles in the chain (2) multiplied by the length of the chain (3)
    • The longer your chains, the higher your scores will be.
      • You can create a chain of up to 20, which would be worth 380 points.
      • The key to earning a high score in this game is to build long chains early in the game & try to get most (or all) of the board to the stone value of 4, then repeat the process for each subsequent number.
      • As you get higher up the numerical scale it is harder to make long chains because the board has more numbers on it.
  • Strategy
    • Bear in mind your starting number & the ending number (of double the value) the stones will merge into.
      • The numbers always merge toward the ending number.
      • Make sure that the end number tile always ends up where you can easily merge it with another group.
    • Early in the game you want to make chains as long as you possibly can. But when your moves become more scarce don’t try to make the chains too long if you can help it.
      • You’ll need at least 3 identical number tiles to merge them. Creating 2 or 3 of the same number out of a group is better as you’ll soon have enough to merge into an even bigger number.
    • Keep your highest-value tiles closer to the bottom and toward one corner.
    • Likewise, see if you can merge away the lower-value ones immediately. You must make sure they don’t get trapped.
    • When merging stones they all merge into the final position you used as part of your chain. Use this to your advantage to:
      • help keep high valued stones lower on the playing field
      • help keep lower valued stones higher on the playing field
      • merge stones into positions where they can quickly make a subsequent merge
