• Starting the Game
  • Press the Play button in the center of the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
  • The upper right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for sound control and music control.

  • Desktop
    • Move left by pressing the A key or the left arrow key.
    • Move right by pressing the D key or the right arrow key.
    • Press and hold the spacebar to glide through the air.
    • Press the R key if you need to reset the level.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • This game was designed for play on desktop computers with an attached keyboard.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The bomb indicator in the upper left counts down, showing when the chicken will launch another bomb.
    • When you glide a status bar above the chicken shows how much glide time remains.
    • The level select screen shows which levels you have unlocked.

  • Basics
    • This is an unconventional platforming game where you play as a chicken.
      • In the place of a jump command your chicken periodically shoots out bombs, which provide lift.
    • Your goal is to make it to the flag at the end of the stage while avoiding spikes.
  • Game features
    • Bombs – released periodically to provide lift. Bombs can also be used to:
      • break destructible blocks
      • collect keys
      • activate switches
    • Bomb timer – in the upper left corner there is a 4-count timer which indicates when a bomb will be released.
      • on most stages the bomb timer speed is consistent, but there are a couple stages where it moves faster, with you shooting out bombs more frequently
      • when you shoot out bombs more frequently you
    • Gliding – after going aloft by falling off a platform or shooting a bomb you can glide.
      • A meter shows how much glide time you have left.
      • You can hold in the glide, pulse the glide, or use it periodically.
    • Spikes – instant death if you touch them.
    • Keys – unlock some gates. Keys can be collected by running into them or dropping a bomb on them.
    • Switches – unlocks some gates. Switches can be activated by running into them or dropping bombs on them.
    • Breakable blocks – hit them with a bomb to destroy them
    • Extra jump – run into these icons to shoot out another bomb and gain more loft.
  • Levels
    • This game has 14 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You win by making it to the flag at the end of the stage.
      • You lose if you run into spikes or fall off platform into the abyss.
      • This game offers unlimited continues starting you at the beginning of the failed stage.
      • If you get stuck where it is impossible to complete a stage you can press the R key to restart the level.
  • Tips
    • Watch your head!
      • On some later levels you have to fly long distances, change directions repeatedly, and unlock many gates.
      • In some cases the platforms you stand on temporarily have spikes above you & when you periodically shoot out a bomb that can propel you into them.
      • You may be able to avoid those spikes by timing a swift move across the platform, or by standing near the edge of it until the bomb shoots out & then move inward.
      • On some stages it makes sense to glide off a platform under spikes, leading to a flight that is too low, only to have a bomb shoot out right as you reach the destination platform to give you the lift needed to make the jump.
    • Gliding
      • Early in the game when you use the glide function you often need to press and hold.
      • As you get into later levels where there is the extra jump feature it is important to save the glide credit to last your entire journey. It is better to pulse it for short bursts while descending rather than holding it in early in flight and having no glide left when you really need it.
      • On stages with a vertical climb and frequent bombs shooting out you can use the glide more aggressively. Be careful when moving onto platforms to ensure you clear any spikes on the floor & also don’t run into any spikes on the ceiling.
      • On the twelfth stage named parkor you have to skip the extra jump icons on the way down & skip every other icon while heading across so that you have a path back after collecting the key.
    • Fair warning
      • This game originally had 12 stages & when it did we felt the last couple stages were brutally tough, with the final level optimized for enjoyable play by the most patient, masochistic, or impatient masochistic of gamers.
      • We have not yet played levels 13 & 14, but would hazard to guess they are even more of the above!
