• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.

  • Levels
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially:

      • There are 16 levels in this game.
      • The first level gives you 5 minutes to complete it.
      • Each subsequent level gives you 15 fewer seconds to complete it & the board size increases as you progress through the game.
    • When reloading the game, you have 2 options:
      • Start from the very beginning. This will clear your cumulative score.
      • Continue from the last level you unlocked.
  • Basic rules
    • Select a pair of identical animal-themed tiles to remove them from the field.
      • A pair must have a clear path between each other.
        • The line connecting them should have no more than two 90-degree bends.
        • The game automatically generates a line between them.
      • When you make a valid pair, the animal tiles will come together and free one animal.
      • In some Mahjong Connect games tiles may fill in one direction or another. In this game the remaining tiles stay in place & do not move.
    • If you run out of valid pairs, the game will automatically shuffle the tiles on the field.
    • Clear out the entire field before the timer runs out.
      • You start off with 5 minutes on the clock.
      • In later levels, you get a 15 second shorter time limit.
      • If you fail to finish when the timer expires, you lose the level:
        • You can replay it, if you want.
        • You can also end your playthrough. This lets you save your final score on the leaderboard.
  • Scoring
    • Scoring is cumulative and is based on the total of every level you play.
    • Earn 50 points for every pair you clear.
    • You earn a combo bonus for every pair you link consecutively.
      • You start with a minimum of 30 bonus points.
      • The more pairs you clear rapidly, the higher your score, with the chain bonus growing slightly faster than linearly.
      • You can activate the chain bonus so long as the prior animal has not yet run offscreen.
        • Making matches of animals which are further apart from each other gives you more time to make subsequent matches while keeping the chain bonus in tact.
    • At the end of the level, the game rewards you with an extra 30 points for every second remaining on the timer.
  • Assistance
    • If you’re ever stuck, you can rely on shuffles and hints to assist you.
      • Hints highlight random available pairs on the field.
      • Shuffles change the arrangement of the tiles on the field.
    • Both assistance options cost points.
      • Manual shuffles cost 500 points.
      • Hints cost 100 points.
