• Starting the Game
  • Press the Play button on the welcome screen to start the game.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Slide tiles up by pressing the W key or the up arrow key.
    • Slide tiles down by pressing the S key or the down arrow key.
    • Slide tiles left by pressing the A key or the left arrow key.
    • Slide tiles right by pressing the D key or the right arrow key.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Use the 4 on-screen buttons in the lower center to slide the tiles.

  • Basics
    • Slide the tiles in any direction.
    • When identically valued tiles touch and are moving in the same direction they merge into a tile worth twice as much (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048).
      • If three consecutive tiles have the same value then the 2 which are most in the direction you are sliding will merge.
      • Chain reaction merges can happen on some moves, where a set of 2 tiles next to a 4 tile that is next to an 8 tile can all merge into a 16 tile.
      • When tiles merge you add the value of the new tile to your score. For example, by merging a set of 4 tiles into an 8 tile you score 8 points.
    • Each time you make a move a new tile worth 2 appears on the board on the opposite side.
      • The game ends when there is no space for a new tile to appear.
  • Tips
    • Throughout most of the game you want to have a strong corner that has the highest value tiles in it. Try to have tile values increase as you move left to right or top to bottom.
    • Periodically you have to move away from the strong positioning to make matches of larger tile values, though you should then try to re-establish the same configuration as soon as possible.
    • Having low valued tiles across all 4 edges & having a mix of low value and high value tiles near each other out of order means you will likely run out of options sooner rather than later.
