• Starting the Game

  • Matching stones
    • Identical
      • Most tile matches must be identical, with the exception of flower tiles & season tiles.
        • Any flower tile can be matched with any flowers. Flowers have red numbers in the upper left corner.
        • Any season tile can be matched with any seasons. Seasons have a red Chinese character in the upper right corner.
    • Drawing lines
      • When you connect stones they must be able to be connected with a line which does not through any other stones, and is one of the following:
        • horizontal
        • vertical
        • vertical and horizontal with no more than 2 right angle turns
      • When you select a stone it turns yellow.
        • If the second tile selected is a valid match and a line can be created which satisfies the above criteria the line will be drawn in pink and the stones will be removed from the board.
    • Filling
      • Many Mahjong Connect games fill tiles in a particular direction as tiles are removed from the board.
      • In this game tiles do not move or fill as other tiles are removed.
  • Levels
    • This game has 3 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
    • Time limit
      • The first level has a 10 minute time limit.
      • The second level has a 15 minute time limit.
      • The third level has a 20 minute time limit.
    • Stones
      • The first level consists of a 8 by 18 grid containing 144 stones, or 72 stone pairs.
      • The second level consists of a 9 by 24 grid containing 216 stones, or 108 stone pairs.
      • The third level consists of a 12 by 24 grid containing 288 stones, or 144 stone pairs.
  • Scoring
    • Your game score is cumulative across levels.
    • Scoring points
      • Each tile pair matched is worth 50 points.
      • Each second remaining when a level is beat is worth 30 points.
    • Spending points
      • Shuffling tiles costs 250 points.
      • Hints cost 150 points.
  • Strategy
    • The easiest stones to match are the corner stones since they can match in either direction.
      • Up next, the outer edges are the easiest to match.
      • It is easier to match horizontally than vertically since rows are longer than columns are tall.
    • In general shuffles are cheaper than hints in of the value you get out of them as shuffles typically make it quite easy to find multiple matches quickly.
      • With each second remaining on the timer being worth 30 points you only need to save 9 seconds of play for a shuffle to more than pay for itself.
